Here's my review:
Two sisters, Esme and Jinx, are both longing for love, yet sacrificing their very passions to gain that love. Esme's dream was to be a reporter and felt that she could accomplish that in her father's well established and highly circulated New York Chronicle. Jinx wanted to be a Fifth Avenue wife, but had to wait for Esme to marry. Through lies and deceit, Jinx achieve her dream, but at the expense of love. And Esme fought for her hers, but lost the approval of her father. Journey with these two women of the Guilded Age as they strive to gain their highest potential in Heiress (Daughters of Fortune) by Susan May Warren.
I have read many of Susan May Warren's books before, which were mostly contemporary. I was curious to read this historical fiction. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was very enchanted by Susan's descriptive language of the Guilded Age. This was a book I couldn't put down. I didn't want to give away too much of the story because it would spoil all of the surprises, but this book will have you on the edge of your seat and beckon you to immerse yourself in the era of high society. I can't wait for the next book in this series to appear.
