Having a Martha Home the Mary Way by Sarah Mae Book Review

Sarah Mae's new book Having a Martha Home the Mary Way: 31 Days to a Clean House and a Satisfied Soul is long awaited!  Eight years ago she wrote an ebook called 31 Days to Clean and started sharing the Martha and Mary challenges, but now, this new book is so much more.  It digs deep into the heart of what you really desire your home to be not just on the outside, but on the inside.  Each chapter or day starts with a short story.  The Mary Challenge is a devotion with a Scripture and some questions to answer right in the book.  A Martha Challenge follows with specific areas to clean.  The chapters and challenges give practical tips and ideas for the art of "gentle homemaking" which is the purpose of Sarah Mae's vision for the home.  What really matters is how we love others and Sarah Mae wants the reader to look past all the chaos and clutter to reach the heart of the home.

I want a clean home, but more than that I want an attitude of peace and joy in my home.  After reading this book, I had a good plan to start working on my heart and my home.  I really enjoy Sarah Mae's real life stories and how she overcame some huge struggles to find happiness and also some ideas to make her house clean.  I like how the book is divided into 31 days of challenges.  It takes a big project and breaks it down into doable pieces.  Her wit and humor shine forth in each chapter.  She makes me want to clean my home and have fun in the process!  I encourage you to check out Having a Martha Home the Mary Way and join the challenge on Sarah Mae's blog starting April 11.
