    My review:
The Stars Shine Bright (A Raleigh Harmon Novel) by Sibella Giorello is a riveting suspense novel featuring Raleigh Harmon, FBI agent, in this fifth novel of the series.  Raleigh is looking to redeem her career by going undercover to find out why horses are dying at Washington's largest thoroughbred racetrack, Emerald Meadows.  She poses as the niece of Eleanor Anderson, owner of the Hot Tin Barn.  She is not allowed to contact any family and her case agent, Jack, sometimes helps or hinders how she wants to do her job.  Raleigh immediately encounters sinister happenings when she spends the night in the stall of a sick horse and a fire is set.  The next day a strange device is found at the starting line of a race causing a horse to falter and later die.  Raleigh is determined to find who is behind these mysterious acts before she is tagged as the suspect herself!  She takes long road trips to have mud tested at a forensic geology lab and when another horse is kidnapped Raleigh plays a cat and mouse game to find the responsible person.  And when the FBI questions her techniques, she quits her job and runs full force to catch the culprit herself.  Will Raleigh be able to prove who is behind all the trouble at the track?

At first I was overwhelmed at the technical language of the FBI and the large amount of characters (owners, trainers, jockeys, managers) at the racetrack.  However as I read this fast paced thriller, I enjoyed the descriptive language that gave life to this story.  Sibella has a unique writing style using many unfamiliar words, but in way that helped me understand their meaning.  I was kept on the edge of my seat.  There was a lot of detail in this book that was a little hard to follow, but I would love to read the rest of the novels in this series and I would highly recommend this author.

*This product was provided to me free of charge for purpose of this review. This is my honest opinion of this book and no monetary compensation was received for my opinion.*
